Novoferm security doors are suited for the widest range of applications, primarily in construction projects – from intra-company safety standards, in IT areas for example, to the rough and tumble daily routine that doors have to withstand in offices, workshops or warehouses. All Novoferm security doors comply with the performance characteristics required by the European test standard for security doors, EN 1627 – as confirmed by a recognized impartial testing agency. Our security doors offer tested security ranging from resistance class RC2 to RC4, depending on the type.

Our security doors are particularly functional. They are capable of resisting unwanted guests, fire, smoke or noise. Depending on the type of multi-functional door, security can be combined with soundproofing, smoke protection or fire resistance.

Classes in endurance testing

Resistance class RC2
Resists for 3 minutes*
An occasional burglar tries to break in with simple tools: He positions a screwdriver, takes a pair of pliers, forces wedges into the part, or takes a small hand saw to visible hinges.

A 2 tool kit
When testing, a rubber hammer may be used to drive in the wedges or the screwdriver to simulate appropriate manual attempts. Otherwise, the following tools are available: 1 screwdriver, 1 pipe wrench, 1 steel pipe extension, various plastic/wood wedges and various saws (wood, pad, hacksaw).

Resistance class RC3
Resists for 5 minutes*
The burglar is better equipped, and uses a second screwdriver, various hand tools (small hammer, mechanical drill, etc.) and a crowbar to simplify access by increasing the leverage effect. The drill is used to work on any locking mechanisms.

A 3 tool kit
The fitter's hammer may not directly hit the door – nor does this test procedure permit the use of a crowbar against the test specimen. Both tools are intended for pin punching or levering out or puncturing the door. The following can be used in addition to the tools in the A2 kit: one each screwdriver, crowbar, saw, fitter's hammer, hand drill, set of drill bits and 1 set of pin punches.

Resistance class RC4
Resists for 10 minutes*
An experienced burglar brings professional equipment along: He grabs a saw, uses different impact tools, such as axes, chisels, or a cordless drill. The surface area he can attack is much bigger thanks to the wider range of applications of his tools. He is very willing to take risks in the hope of making a reasonable haul; this intruder is determined to get in.

A 4 tool kit
The wider range of tool options makes the attack more dangerous. The tools used in this class, above and beyond tool kit A 3: 1 each piston sledge, cold chisel, wood chisel, axe, bolt cutter, cordless drill, set of drills and 2 sheet metal cutters.

* The time indicated is purely the time taken to work on the door. The clock starts the instant the first tool is applied. The higher the resistance class, a) the longer the door must resist, and b) the heavier the permitted tools become.

Class: It's all about resistance classes (RC).

Novoferm keeps you secure, even though the former German resistance classes (WK)
were replaced in 2011 with European standards governing burglar resistance, which distinguish between classes RC1 – RC6. Classification is based on a procedure by which a fictitious burglar examines the door plans for possible weak points; the clock starts ticking when he starts trying to break in. The higher the RC, the heavier the tool that can be used.

Since the boundaries separating the classes have become stricter, a former WK classification cannot simply be translated to RC.

Former WK4 and WK5 are the only classes for which testing to the predecessor standard (DIN V ENV 1627) can be used for classification as RC4 and RC5 – supplementary tests are mandatory for all other transitions.

Door panel standard galvanized and primed (powder coated, RAL 9016).

Optional Super Color:
up to BR 1250 x 2250 mm, textured powder coating primer in steel blue, ruby red, fir green, light grey, window grey, anthracite grey, nut brown, sepia brown, platinum white, carmine red, olive green and yellow grey.

Optional Super Dekor:
Wood decors for inside use in maple, pear, cherry, walnut, natural beech, light oak or white ash.
Optionally available in RAL of your choice.

Frame galvanized and EC-primed, similar to RAL 7035, optionally available in RAL of your choice.

Burglar resistant as per EN 1627 RC2. Also available with standard or customized glazing and/or top panel/fanlight. Soundproof from 29 dB to 42 dB with special acoustic insulation, tested to EN ISO 140-3, assessed as per EN ISO 717-1.

E-S 63-1 / E-S 63-2: the details

Single and double full panel door units for indoor and outdoor use. 62 mm door panel, rebate on 3 sides, with homely thick rebate. Sheet thickness 1.5 mm. Internal reinforcement for door closer on hinge side (on active leaf and inactive leaf on double door units).
Door panel and frame standard galvanized and primed (powder coated, RAL 9016).
E-S 63-1: Door panel, frame and hinges optionally available with design finish.

Versions
Burglar resistant as per EN 1627 RC3. Filled with mineral wool for heat insulation. Optional soundproofing 35 dB (1 leaf) or 32 dB (2 leaf) tested to EN ISO 140-3, assessed as per EN ISO 717-1.

E-S 63-1 also available as a wall flap measuring 500 x 500 to 1250 x 1750 mm.

Hardware
Per leaf: two 3-part hinges KO 160/16/4 with ball bearing and hinge plug safeguards.
3 securing pins per leaf, security PC mortice lock with drawback latch as per DIN 18250, class 3, with special bolt. Fire resistant aluminium security knob-lever set as per DIN 18257 ES 2 ZA with long plate and SI profile cylinder as per DIN 18252 P2 BZ (45 + 40 mm), safety card and 3 keys.
Inactive leaf with (upward and downward locking) rebate retracting bolt. Standard centre rebate seal.

Frames
Corner frame, 2.0 mm thick with EPDM seal on 3 sides, with wall plug anchors. Wrap-around, block and counter frames available at additional charge (corner and wrap-around frames supplied flat-packed, with concealed screw fastening).

Sills
Standard floor level (A), sills optionally available with all-round frame (B1, B2, B3), or with bottom stop (C), or sealing sills with lowerable floor seal (RS1) or hump sill (RS2). 1 leaf also available with 2 x RS1.

Single leaf full panel door with 9-fold safeguards for indoor and outdoor use. Fire resistance compliant T30 (standard equipped with overhead door closer) for indoor use only. Door panel with rebate on 3 sides, homely thick rebate, filled with insulating mineral wool. Five securing pins.

E-S 9: the details

Door panel standard galvanized and primed (powder coated, RAL 9016).
Optional Super Color:
Textured powder coating primer in steel blue, ruby red, fir green, light grey, window grey, anthracite grey, nut brown, sepia brown, platinum white, carmine red, olive green and yellow grey.

Optional Super Dekor:
up to BR 1250 x 2250 mm, wood decors for inside use in maple, pear, cherry, walnut, natural beech, light oak or white ash.

Optionally available in RAL of your choice.

Frame galvanized and EC-primed, similar to RAL 7035, optionally available in RAL of your choice.

Burglar resistance as per EN 1627
RC3 (9 point lock). Optionally T30 fire retardant. Soundproof (without glass) 41 dB as per EN ISO 717-1. Heat insulated (without glass) as per EN ISO 14351-1. T30 model also available with smoke protection as per DIN 18095 (with door closer up to BR 1250 x 2250 mm). MZ variant also available with standard glazing.

T90-1 also available as type N9 wall flap measuring 500 x 500 to 1250 x 1750 mm, some with overhead door closer, depending on size and weight.

Versions
Burglar resistant as per EN 1627 RC4 (11-fold safeguards). Optionally T30 fire retardant. Available with soundproofing, heat insulation and smoke protection as described under E-S 9.

Hardware
2 hinge plates, three-dimensionally adjustable, with hinge lock. Standard lower acoustic threshold seal, aluminium security knob-lever set as per DIN 18257 ES 2 ZA (E-S 11: ES 3 ZA), long plate with cylinder distance 92 mm, drill-protected SI profile cylinder as per DIN 18252 BS (40 + 35 mm), safety card and 3 keys.

Is a surprisingly harmonious overall impression coupled with a plethora of variants that invites you to design to your heart's content.

The design finishes are available for door types E-S-1, E-S-2, E-S 63-1, Premio T30-1 and T30-2, T30-1 N2/60, Premio T90-1 and T90-2, T90-1 N9 as well as T90-1 N19. Add clever highlights – coupled with security – with Novoferm.

High gloss or matt

You have the choice: The new design finishes are available with high gloss or matt surface finish. They are varnished with a lightfast and extremely scratchproof clear topcoat that makes them suitable for use both indoors and out.

Hardware and other accessories

When it comes to security, everything needs to be perfect. Which is why each and every component that makes up a Novoferm security door is thought through to the smallest detail, combined with other components to maximize efficiency, and matched perfectly to the appropriate requirements, standards and needs.

This is clearly demonstrated by the numerous details that transform a normal steel door into an RC classified Novoferm security door. They include, for example, drill- and pull-protected security profile cylinders as per DIN 18252 BS, complete with three keys and safety card. But what also make Novoferm security doors the perfect choice are the numerous options for enhancing our security doors with further protective functions that are frequently also required in the public sector, such as fire resistance, smoke protection or soundproofing.

SI handles

Novoferm security doors already come standard equipped with high-strength aluminium security knob-lever sets with short plate and cylinder cover (RC2) or long plate (RC3). Which also makes them look good. Handle sets and stainless steel versions are also available.

Panic lock

Panic locks as per EN 1125 are mandatory in public buildings where easy escape requiring little force must be assured in panic situations. Such buildings include airports, cinemas, shopping centres, hospitals, schools or public administration buildings. At the same time, the security requirements for these buildings are stricter. All Novoferm security doors can therefore be combined with a panic lock.

Door closer

If fire resistance is a requirement alongside specific security functions, overhead door closers are mandatory – with additional door coordinator on double door units. Various models are available for Novoferm security doors (some are optional).

Spyhole

A feeling of security starts with knowing who is at the door. A door with spyhole and lockable safety chain (both optional) is reassuring.

Secure lightweight partition walls

It's not just about the door – the wall is also important. If you want to fit the door into a lightweight partition wall, for example.

What makes it so special is not just the door, but the whole kit and caboodle – Novoferm can provide you with tested RC2 doors for installation in burglar resistant gypsum partition walls. A unique solution that offers all-round security, even when using highly flexible lightweight partition walls.

Which is why we offer doors that reliably withstand the conditions of the relevant burglar resistance class, even in lightweight partition walls. The following RC2 door types are suitable for fast and flexible installation in F90-A burglar resistant installation walls, and come complete with hinge pin pull-out safeguard, security hardware with cylinder cover, drill-proof profile cylinder and screw locks with star-shaped covers:
