Our roller shutters are individual and universal door seals. They comply with all pertinent regulations and standards. We also install them in line with existing DIN regulations, of course. The profile design and the high-quality clear top coat on ALU doors make your roller shutter the best advertisement for your company. Coloured surface finishes are also available on request.

European safety standards

European standard EN 13241-1 specifies a range of safety requirements that industrial doors must meet. All of these requirements aim to avoid injury or property damage when the door is being operated. The risk of getting trapped must be minimized; it must be absolutely impossible for the open door to fall.

Novoferm designs and manufactures all of its doors in strict compliance with these standards. Feel free to request and inspect the corresponding certificates and test reports.

Burglar protection

Prevents the curtain from being raised, with lock for on-site cylinder, handle, rods that engage at the side, and cut-off contact.

Automatic servo lock

Electromechanical servo lock on both sides of the roller shutter. Up to 6000 mm.

Accident protection contact strip

Beneath the bottom profile at the lower edge of the door, causes the door to stop immediately if the closing curtain encounters an obstacle; the curtain is subsequently raised. Standard feature on automatically powered doors, otherwise available on request.

Pass door

Standard size 875 x 2000 mm, to allow people to pass when the door is closed, in swivelling or fixed side panel (total width approx. 1050 mm). A side door can also be filled with slats to create a similar appearance to the roller shutter.

Double-skinned, thermally insulated slats in standard natural aluminium with colourless top coat. Optional colour coating. Optional window slats. Natural aluminium bottom profile, untreated

TH100 natural aluminium with clear top coat

100 mm aluminium slats
More conventional profile structure with double-skinned design, also with thermally insulating rigid polyurethane foam core, approx. 23 mm thick in each case. Rigid foam bonded without adhesive to the skin ensures excellent surface stability.

THGL100 aluminium with glazing
Double-skinned glazed aluminium slats with window cutouts, filled with double-skinned acrylic (transparent), max. 10 slats with window cutouts, for surface finishes see TH100. Natural aluminium bottom profile, untreated.

TH 80 roller shutters

Double-skinned, thermally insulated slats in standard natural aluminium with colourless top coat. Optional colour coating. Optional window slats. Natural aluminium bottom profile, untreated.

TH80 natural aluminium with clear top coat

80 mm aluminium slats
Double-skinned, approx. 20 mm thick. Thermally insulating rigid polyurethane foam core bonded without adhesive to the skin ensures outstanding surface stability. Specially designed profiles for a much tighter coil and lower headroom height, and they look good, too.

THGL80 aluminium with glazing
Double-glazed aluminium slats with window cutouts, filled with double-skinned acrylic (not transparent), max. 5 slats with window cutouts per roller shutter, for surface finishes see TH80.

V80 and V80L roller shutters

Single skin natural aluminium or sendzimir galvanized steel (standard). Optional colour coating. Natural aluminium bottom profile, untreated.

V80 natural aluminium or steel

Single skin 80 mm slats
Conventional profile structure, available in a choice of two models: Aluminium, 1 or 1.25 mm thick, weatherproof, natural blank surface finish, or Steel, 0.75 or 1 mm thick, sendzimir galvanized surface finish.

V80 L steel
Single skin ventilation slats, only available for steel models, 1 mm thick with 5 mm perforation, approx. 25% air permeable. Standard sendzimir galvanized surface finish. Optional colour coating on both sides at extra cost. Natural aluminium bottom profile, untreated.

Roller shutter curtains

Made of slats with hinge-like joints (see overleaf for profile structure) that channel off water. The curtain is fastened to the tubular roller and its bottom edge reinforced with a profile to match the requirements, with flexible hose seal to cushion floor unevenness. TH80 and TH100 slats are both fitted with end pieces at the sides to stop displacement, V80 slats are safeguarded against displacement in the hinge area.

Technical Details

Direct drive (standard):
Maintenance-free completely oil-sealed, encased worm drive safety gear mounted directly on the steel shaft of the axis, which vastly reduces the installation and maintenance work involved, compared to other configurations.

Integrated failsafe device can be installed in any position, requires no maintenance and is self-monitoring, together with an encased limit switch flanged onto the gear with accurately adjustable end and safety end switches.

Emergency crank or manually operated chain for quick release if power fails. All electrical lines are plug connected to the drive. Operating voltage: 400 V three-phase AC. Drive tested by TÜV and VDE.

Sprocket drive with failsafe device (made to measure):
Maintenance-free completely oil-sealed, encased worm drive safety gear with limit switch, including emergency crank or manually operated chain – as for direct drive but including the necessary sprockets made of steel and the matching chain to transfer the force from drive to roller.

This must be installed together with the TÜV-tested failsafe device to stop the door falling, even if the supports fail.

Roller:
Steel, base coated, size complies with permissible bend of 1/500 of its length, minimum diameter 168 mm to wind the curtain up better.

Bracket attachment:
Plugged, bolted or welded on. If welding, fasten it to the on-site substructure or previously installed anchor plates in line with our offset plans.

Self-aligning ball bearings:
Large, for mounting the roller, mounted on brackets.

Emergency operation:
Emergency chain, operated from the floor.

Assembly / electrical installation:
Our installation conditions are based on existing DIN regulations. Accordingly, all routing and connection of any electrical parts must be provided on site in line with our circuit diagrams, as must the power supply and wiring of parts with the necessary cables.
A backup fuse and lockable main switch must also be provided on site.

color coating examples for roller shutters

All roller shutters up to max. 6000 x 5000 mm can be supplied with colour coating on one or both sides at extra cost. The bottom profile is standard natural blank aluminium on all roller shutters.
The curtain can be coated at the factory in any of the RAL colours listed below. Actual colours may differ slightly.

Steel and aluminium profiles can also be top coated in any RAL colour. (excl. fluorescent and traffic colours)

Guides and seals

FS1 guide for our V80 roller shutters. Sendzimir galvanized steel guide with plastic strips attached.

FS2 guide for all roller shutters. Sendzimir galvanized steel guide with plastic strips attached, also available with side seal, can be installed with steel brackets without the need for welding.

Side seal for FS2 guide prevents heat loss and draughts, plastic strips with brush seals on the interior side of the door.

RH bottom profile for V80 aluminium doors, extrusion moulded with flexible hose seal.

Floor seal for TH80 roller shutters. EPDM hose seal is inserted into the TH80 profile.

Controllers

Dead man's control
The easiest form of controller is what is known as the dead man's control. Press the "Open door" key once and the door opens. To close the door, the "Close door" key has to be pressed and held until the door is shut.

Pulse control
A pulse controller opens the door when the "Open door" key is pressed and closes it again completely when the "Close door key is pressed (only in combination with closing edge protection).

Automatic closure with timer setting
Automatic closure with timer setting is only permitted in combination with a safety contact strip and a safety opto sensor in the clear opening.

Installation situations / Applications

Installation situations

Side trim profile is necessary if the space needed to connect the roller shutter is insufficient / not available. Steel profile, size matches door weight requirements.

Header seal for V80 / TH100 to prevent heat loss and draughts:
- V80 with nylon brushes
- TH100 up to 5 m wide with rubber lip seals, 5 m or wider with nylon brushes.

Header seal for TH80 to prevent heat loss and draughts: through TH80 slat with fixed plastic seal.

Vertical header panel is necessary in the absence of a header. Panel made from the same profiles as the curtain, fixed in a steel frame, optionally made of folded galvanized sheet metal.

Horizontal header panel is necessary if the header is set back. Fixed panel, folded galvanized sheet metal, simple or thermally insulated, depending on the door model.
