Traffic light systems

Traffic light signals let both the driver outside and the loading crew inside know whether the loading bay is ready for the truck to dock and/or loading can commence.
Most traffic light systems in use have two signal generators (red and green). Red and green signals can also be combined in one generator.
Two generator models are in widespread use: those fitted with standard light bulbs, and those with much better quality LED lamps. Although slightly more expensive to buy, LED lamps are much cheaper over the life cycle as they last much longer than conventional light bulbs. Added to which, LED lamps are much brighter, making the respective colour easy to recognize, even in sunlight. The functions of the light systems are agreed individually with users.

Wheel chocks

Wheel chocks keep trucks in exactly the right place in the loading bay. Since the help provided by a standard truck wheel chock is very limited, however, electronic wheel chocks with connections to door and loading ramp are used. The loading ramp cannot be operated until the chock is engaged on the wheel.
A position sensor in the wheel chock ensures correct usage. Linking the chock to a traffic light system that provides current status information to both truck driver and loading crew is recommended.

Loading lights

When a truck docks to load or unload, the loading area automatically darkens, making it harder to move the consignments quickly and safely between truck and ramp. Novoferm's loading light is the perfect solution: It is lightweight, can be mounted without much effort inside the hall right next to the loading dock, and has flexibly articulated arms to brightly illuminate every last corner of the truck and loading bay.
The spotlight is fitted with two 70 W halogen lamps supplied with 24 V. The transformer is fully encapsulated and protected against dust and spray water. The spotlight housing is made of plastic and has a wide handle. The diffuser is designed for wide-area illumination.

Wheel guides

Wheel guides are a further aid to avoiding damages while docking. These are mostly comprised of galvanized steel tubes that are mounted on the ground to the left and right of the loading ramp. They guide trucks into the right position. If a truck drives over the wheel guide, the driver knows he is in the wrong position.
Frequent damages to door seals can thus be avoided. Loading is easier when a truck is in exactly the right position.
